GRAVEYARDS, ROMANCE, AND A LITTLE BIT OF MORBID CURIOSITY
Red Blood Series of Blood Book 2 edition by Emma Hamm Sarah Collingwood Paranormal Romance eBooks
Another 3.5 star read. I liked the story and I loved the world building but I didn't like Lyra. Yes, I understood her personality was because of her siren side, but that doesn't mean I had to like her. She was quick to anger, childish, and irrational. She irritated me the heck out of me. However, there were some flashes of personality that I did like. She looked past Wolfgang's outer appearance and fell for who he was. It was odd, but fitting that she enjoyed being with him because he was ugly which, by contrast, made her more beautiful. Lyra' a vain woman, a trait she fully acknowledged. One thing I really enjoy about these books is that the characters feel more real because they aren't perfect. They whine, cower, and aggravate each other.

Red Blood Series of Blood Book 2 edition by Emma Hamm Sarah Collingwood Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
What a great follow up. I enjoyed this book immensely. I fell in love with the graverobber and Lyra such depth to their characters. Thank you Emma and I can't wait for the next adventure in this series!!
(Thank you Emma for the ARC and here is my honest review)
Emma does it again with Red Blood. First of all the covers are so beautiful. I loves Lyra sassy attitude and confidence. Being a Siren she is really sure of herself. It did make me want to say shhh we get it girl lol. But she diffently makes me love her even more by the end. I didn't think i would fall for the the graverobber like i did. He was sweet but never thought of that as a weakness of his. The ending was great you get a bit of a cliffhanger but nothing that makes you want to bang your head againist the wall lol. Can't wait for the third <3
I went into this book thinking that it was going to be good.
And boy was I right! Silver Blood (the first book in this series) was thoroughly enjoyable, but this book was completely different than the first. There was still the element of magic. There was still the excitement and twists and turns, but in particular this book had me wanting to go back more and more. I would read a few chapters, get up to clean or work around the house, and find myself inevitably wandering back to the book to see what was happening with the characters. I just couldn't put it down!
Now the main female character, Lyra was so very different than Wren. Where Wren in the first book was quirky and fun, Lyra is sexy, dangerous, and very much in control.
This is where you can really see the growth of Emma Hamm as a writer. In her first books, I'd frequently find that she was constantly telling us that her characters were "strong women" but never really justifying it. Lyra is on a whole different level. I'm not sure there's even a point where she says that Lyra is a strong woman, but she absolutely is. She's badass and confident in a way I really wish I could be!
The main guy? Well I can't really talk about him too much without giving away spoilers (ssh!), but let's just say that he's my favorite part of the twists and turns. I'm not even going to say his name. However, out of all of the characters in this series so far, he's likely my favorite.
Or maybe that's Jasper. Hopefully the next book is about that one, because I just can't wait to read his story! Heads up, it is a little bit more of a cliffhanger than the first book. Lyra's story is all wrapped up, and the next book will clearly be about a different couple, but I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book.
Absolutely could not put this book down! Now we just have to wait for the next one.
Firstly I would like to thank Emma for giving me her opportunity to read and review her 2nd offering from her great new series, "Series of Blood" (of course you need to have read the first book to follow the story)
I have to admit making a bit of a mistake when I started this book, something along the lines of assumptions making an ass out of us all, me in this case.
I was thrown for a bit of a loop when, I fell boots and all into the life and sighs of Lyra a kick arse Siren with a weakness for bling, whom we met with her BFF Jasper in the first book. I actually had to take a step back from the book for few days to re orientate myself about the story because I thought I would be reading more about Wren and Burke. I clearly didn't read the book blurb STUUUPID.. so you have been warned.
Lyra comes across as shallow and selfish with few friends, and she hides dark secrets which are starting to eat away at her and her mission (with clothes her only real passion), to help the "Five" save "Red Bloods" and the world with her besty Jasper, who she is starting to push away.
Util she forced to find the "Graverobber"......
Yes, you are allowed to rub your hands in anticipation my pretties...I don't want to give too much away except to say this was a great read, full of magic, mayhem and romance to keep hooked all the way through. I loved it all and highly recommend it especially if you loved the first book, just one word of warning is that Emma sadistically puts a teaser in at the end for the 3rd book ..... You cruel women!!!!
Great Book, all the series are GREAT.
I really enjoyed this book! Very creative story and engaging characters were a huge part of that! What bugged me a bit was that at times the flow of the story felt kind of herky jerky and parts that could have been expanded upon were not while other sections seem to drag a bit. Overall a good read though and I'll be moving on to Blue Blood very soon!
This is an interesting series. I started reading them on Unlimited but decided to buy them. The world and characters are unique and quirky. I like quirky. I enjoyed getting to know the Graverobber and Lyra. They grew a lot in this book. Their romance was sweet. There was no sex or "forecfull" kisses. Just a slow realization and fierce caring. Does that make sense? Well you get the idea. I'm going to start the next book right now.
Another 3.5 star read. I liked the story and I loved the world building but I didn't like Lyra. Yes, I understood her personality was because of her siren side, but that doesn't mean I had to like her. She was quick to anger, childish, and irrational. She irritated me the heck out of me.
